The Phóng Viên(PV) Visa is issued to journalists, reporters, film crews, and media professionals entering Vietnam for media-related purposes. The Visa is valid for up to 1 year and is usually issued for the specific duration of the press assignment.
What can you do with a Press Visa in Vietnam?
✅ Allowed with Press Visa:
- Media reporting and filming*
- Travel within Vietnam to cover news stories
- Producing media such as articles, videos, documentaries, etc.*
- Attending press conferences, briefings
- Collaborating with local media organizations and professionals (must be disclosed in application)
❌ Not Allowed with Press Visa:
- Employment or working for compensation in non-media sectors
- Business activities outside of journalism and media production
- Unauthorized reporting on sensitive/restricted topics

How do you get a PV visa in Vietnam?
The required documents for applying for the press Visa are related both to individual credentials, and details on intended media activities in Vietnam
- Passport valid for at least 6 months
- Invitation letter from agency or organization sponsoring your visa
- Documents proving your status as a permanent Vietnamese press reporter status (PV1)
- Documents proving your assignment as a short-term press reporter in Vietnam (PV2)
- Intended topics and itineraries may be required depending on the type of assignment
