HN visa in Vietnam

The Vietnamese Hội nghị (conference/seminar) visa allows you to stay in the country for up to 90 days. The Visa is subject to pre-approval and must be obtained in a Vietnamese embassy in your home country.

What can you do with an HN Visa in Vietnam?

Allowed with HN Visa:

  • Attending conference/seminar
  • Participating in Educational or scientific research activities or events
  • Networking
  • Presenting or speaking about your work (in the context of the seminar)
  • Short-term courses relating to the conference

❌ Not Allowed with HN Visa:

  • Employment or working for compensation
  • Business activities (management, signing contracts, negotiation talks)
  • Long-term study programs/degrees
  • Activities for long-term residency
  • Extensive tourism and leisure activities

How to get a conference Visa in Vietnam?

To obtain an HN Visa for attending conferences or seminars in Vietnam, you must apply for pre-approval through a Vietnamese consulate in your home country by submitting the following documents:

  • A passport valid for at least six months.
  • An Invitation letter from the conference/seminar organizer in Vietnam
  • Visa approval letter issued by the Vietnam Immigration Department
