What is a Thai BOI Company?
A BOI company in Thailand is a business entity that has received investment promotion from the Thailand Board of Investment. BOI Thailand or Board of Investment in Thailand helps foreign companies to establish a Thai Company, offering substantial advantages over regular company structures.
BOI companies enjoy unique privileges including:
- 100% foreign ownership in restricted sectors
- Up to 8 years of tax holidays and lower taxes for additional years for certain sectors
- Possibility to own land
- Unlimited hiring of foreign skilled workers
- Simplified visas and work permits
- Reduced import duties and incentives
These incentives make BOI registration particularly attractive for manufacturing, technology, and innovation-focused businesses.

BOI Company vs. Regular Company Registration
| Aspect | BOI Company | Regular Company |
|---|---|---|
| Foreign Ownership | Up to 100% in promoted sectors | Limited by Foreign Business Act |
| Tax Benefits | up to 8 years income tax holiday + reduced tax for additional years | Standard corporate tax rates |
| Import Duties | Reduced/exempted depending on industry | Standard rates apply |
| Work Permits | Streamlined process | Standard application procedures |
| Land Ownership | Permitted for factories | Restricted |
| Setup Complexity | Higher due to BOI requirements | Standard incorporation process |
