What can you do with a highly-skilled professional LTR visa?
✅ Benefits:
- The initial visa is valid for five years, with the possibility of a five-year extension if you meet the requirements.
- Enter and exit Thailand freely as long as your visa is valid.
- You automatically receive a work permit with the visa, allowing you to start working directly for your employer in Thailand.
- Eligibility for tax exemptions on overseas income under certain conditions
- You get expedited service at airports and other Thai agencies.
⚠️ Pre-requisites:
- Your occupation must be considered “highly skilled” by the Thai government (science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or other sectors deemed crucial for national development).
- You must have a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field
- At least 5 years of work experience in your area of expertise.
- You must be employed by a company operating in Thailand, typically BOI-certified as promoting targeted industries.
- You must meet income requirements
Documents required for LTR for highly-skilled professionals
- A passport from your country of nationality, valid for a minimum of six months.
- Proof of income:
- Annual income of at least USD 80,000 for the past two years
- If your income falls between USD 40,000 and USD 80,000, you can still apply by having a Master’s degree or higher in science and technology or special expertise relevant to your job assignment in Thailand.
- There are no minimum income requirements for applicants working in government higher educational institutions, research centers, specialized training centers, or government agencies.
- Health insurance with a minimum coverage of USD 50,000 valid for at least 12 months in Thailand.
- Letter of invitation from employer
