A Tax Identification Number (NPWP) in Indonesia is a unique number issued by the tax authorities to individuals and entities for tax administration purposes. It is mandatory for all Indonesian citizens with taxable income, foreign residents staying over 183 days or holding permits, and businesses operating in Indonesia. The NPWP is essential for filing tax returns, paying taxes, opening bank accounts, company registration, visa processes, and customs activities.
