What can you do with a wealthy pensioner LTR visa in Thailand?


  • The initial visa is valid for five years, with the possibility of a five-year extension if you meet the requirements.
  • Enter and exit Thailand freely as long as your visa is valid.
  • You can perform volunteer work or engage in activities related to your hobbies, but you cannot be employed for a salary in Thailand.
  • You may be eligible for tax benefits on overseas income.
  • You get expedited service at airports and other Thai agencies.

⚠️ Pre-requisites:

  • You must be aged 50 or above
  • You must meet pension/income requirements or supplement through investment into Thailand
  • You must meet the health insurance/emergency financial deposit requirements

Documents required for wealthy pensioner LTR visa

  • A passport from your country of nationality, valid for a minimum of six months.
  • Proof of income:
    • Annual pension or stable passive income of at least USD 80,000. Acceptable sources include social security benefits, retirement pensions, and rental income from properties.
    • For income between USD 40,000 and USD 80,000, you can still apply by investing at least USD 250,000 in Thailand. This investment can be in Thai government bonds, foreign direct investment, Thai property, or a combination of these options.
  • Health insurance with minimum coverage of USD 50,000 for at least 10 months, or a social security benefit covering medical treatment in Thailand. Alternatively, you can demonstrate a minimum cash deposit of USD 100,000 in Thailand or abroad for at least 12 months
