PKRT Product Classifications Based on Risk Assessment
Household products are divided into three categories depending on the health risk and potential carcinogenicity.
Class 1 (low risk)
Products do not cause significant effects like irritation or carcinogenicity.
Examples: cotton buds, toilet paper
Class 2 (medium risk)
Products that can cause effects like irritation or corrosiveness but are not carcinogenic
Examples: detergents, alcohol-based home supplies
Class 3 (high risk)
Products that contain pesticides that can cause serious effects, including carcinogenicity. Class 3 products must undergo rigorous testing and get additional approvals from relevant authorities, such as the Pesticide Commission.
Examples: mosquito coils, insect repellents
Requirements for a PKRT Product Holder
Before your household products can be registered in Indonesia, you need to decide on the product holder. The product holder must be a company registered in Indonesia.
A. Register a company
This lets you own the distribution license directly but comes with more requirements, such as minimum capital. The company must hold a business classification related to the product (e.g., wholesale trade)
B. Emerhub as the product holder

C. Appoint an exclusive distributor
If you plan to have only one distributor in Indonesia, you can appoint them as your exclusive distributor. They can hold the license. This is the easiest but least flexible option.

Household Product (PKRT) Registration Process

Appointing product holder
A product must have a holder in Indonesia. You can either register your own company. You can appoint a product holder (like Emerhub). Or you can assign a distributor to register the product on your behalf.

Risk assessment
Before the official registration, your products are assessed and issued a risk level from low, medium, and high-risk products.

Preparation of documents
Collection of all the required documents, like product information, technical specifications, and usage instructions.

Issuance of Distribution License (Izin Edar)
Once approved, you will get the Izin Edar (Distribution License), which is valid for three years. This license lets you distribute your PKRT products in Indonesia.
