The Special Investor’s Resident Visa (SIRV) is a non-immigrant visa for foreign investors in the Philippines. It allows holders to reside in the country indefinitely, provided they maintain their qualifying investments.

The minimum investment amount for SIRV is USD 75,000. The investment must be made within 180 days from the date of issuance of the probationary visa.

Key Features of Special Investor’s Resident Visa (SIRV)

The Philippines’ special investor’s visa offers several advantages to foreigners including the following:

  • SIRV holders can reside in the Philippines for an unlimited period as long as they maintain their investments.
  • They can freely enter and exit the country without additional permits
  • Spouses and children under 21 of SIRV holders can be added to the visa.

Eligibility Criteria for Special Investor’s Resident Visa

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Invest at least US$75,000 in eligible Philippine enterprises
  • No conviction of crimes involving moral turpitude
  • Not afflicted with any dangerous or contagious disease
  • No history of institutionalization for mental disorders or disabilities

The funds are initially deposited in a peso time deposit account at the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) or the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP). The funds must stay in the deposit account for a minimum of 30 days and a maximum of 180 days before you can convert them into an eligible investment.

Note that investments in companies involved in wholesale trading, condominium units, or partnerships are not eligible for SIRV.

The following are the key documents required when submitting a Special Investor’s Resident Visa (SIRV) application:

  • Valid passport with at least 6 months validity beyond the intended stay
  • Recent passport-sized photographs
  • Completed Personal History Statement Form
  • Marriage certificate for married applicants, authenticated by the Philippine Embassy
  • Medical certificate authenticated by the Bureau of Quarantine of the Philippine Department of Health (valid for 6 months)
  • Clearance from the Interpol Division of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)
  • Proof of inward remittance from an accredited depository bank (Development Bank of the Philippines or Land Bank of the Philippines)
