One-year remote worker visa in Indonesia

Indonesian government has assigned the visa type E33G as the “remote worker visa”. This visa type allows you to stay and bring your family to Indonesia for a year. You can work for your overseas company or employer but you are not allowed to work for a company in Indonesia.


Permitted Activities with a E33G Remote Worker Visa

  • Undertake tasks for a foreign-based company.
  • Travel freely into and out of Indonesia, with unrestricted re-entry.
  • Reside in Indonesia with eligible family members.
  • Participate in activities related to tourism, such as visiting friends or relatives.
  • Make investments in areas unrelated to employment, in compliance with visa regulations.

Prohibited Activities

  • Employment with or receiving payment from any Indonesian entities.
  • Engaging in sales or service provision within Indonesia.
  • Working for or earning income from individuals or entities in Indonesia not associated with foreign assignments.

Documents required for a remote worker visa in Indonesia

  • Passport: Must be valid for a minimum of 6 months.
  • Proof of Financial Stability: A bank balance of at least USD 2,000 (or equivalent) shown over the past 3 months.
  • Recent Passport-Sized Photo: Current and in color.
  • Employment Agreement: From a company outside of Indonesia, confirming the applicant’s remote working arrangement.
