To apply for a Multiple Re-entry Permit (MERP), first ensure you meet the eligibility requirements, including having a valid KITAS or KITAP.
Gather all necessary documents, then submit your application at the local immigration office or through your agent. Pay the required fees. Once approved, you will be notified to collect your MERP.
Documents Needed for a MERP Application
- Valid Passport: Ensure your passport has at least 6 months of validity remaining.
- Current KITAS/KITAP: Proof of your current residency status in Indonesia.
- Sponsor Letter: A letter from your employer or sponsor, if applicable.
- Application Form: Complete the required MERP application form provided by the immigration office.
- Passport Photos: Bring 2 recent passport-sized photos.
- Proof of Payment: Receipt of the application fee payment.
How long is a Multiple Exit Re-Entry Permit (MERP) valid?
A MERP is valid for 6 months or 1 year (some even up to 2 years) depending on the type you apply for. Note that the MERP must be renewed before it expires.
The application fees for a MERP are based on its validity period and the type of permit you hold (KITAS or KITAP).
- 6-Month MERP: Around IDR 1,000,000 (approximately USD 70)
- 1-Year MERP: Around IDR 2,000,000 (approximately USD 140)
