Smart Other visa “O” in Thailand
The Other Visa is intended to allow the legal dependents of Smart Visa holders of other categories to stay and work in Thailand.
Eligibility criteria
🗂️ Who is considered a legal dependent:
- Spouses or children of holders of Smart Visa types “T”, “I”, “E”, or “S”
- Children must be under the age of 20
✅ Visa requirements:
- Main Visa holders must have a valid Smart Visa for a minimum duration of 6 months.
- Dependents must have health insurance coverage for the entire period of stay (Only applicable to Startup Visa)
- Main Visa holder must have an additional THB 180,000 deposited in a bank account in Thailand or the country of origin for each dependent (Only applicable to Startup Visa)
What are the benefits of the (O) Visa?
The Thai Other Visa for dependents of Smart Visa holders is aimed at allowing the main applicant to easily bring their Spouse and children to stay in Thailand with them. The Visa provides dependents with the following benefits:
- The Visa is renewable for the same period of stay as the main Smart Visa holder
- Exemption from work permit requirements for working in BOI-promoted companies (Only applicable for spouses or children of Talent Visa holders who are over 18)
- Yearly reporting to immigration offices (extended from the usual 90-day reporting)
- Exemption from multiple-entry permit requirements
